2002 

First Wales cap versus South Africa in the Freestate Stadium, Bloemfontein. Richard became the 1001st player to represent his country Wales.

2005 

Wins Powergen Cup with Leeds defeating Bath at Twickenham by 20-12.

2011 

Completes the 737 Challenge, a world first, becoming the first ever person to climb the highest mountain on each of the world's 7 continents and stand on all 3 poles (The North Pole, The South Pole and the summit of Everest) in the same calendar year - and within 7 months.

2012 

Awarded the Rugby Writers’ Club Special Award, which was previously awarded to the likes of Phil Vickery, Sir Clive Woodward and Sir Ian McGeechan.

Wins Just Giving Celebrity Fundraiser of the year beating the likes David Walliams, Michael Vaughan and Scott Mills.

Awarded the ‘Chancellors Medal’ by the University of Glamorgan.

Awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of South Wales.

Nominated to carry the Olympic Torch.  Carries the torch through Swansea.

Named in the Business Insider's top 100 most influential people in Wales.

Invited to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

737 Challenge and design partner Limegreentangerine win a national CIM Marketing Excellence Award, winning SME of the year at the 2012 CIM Marketing Excellence Awards.  They were also a finalist in the Not for profit category.

737 Challenge campaign wins the CIM Canmol Marketing Award.

Invited to St Paul’s Cathedral to mark centenary of Scott’s Antarctic Expedition, 100 years on.  HRH The Princess Royal read a lesson, Sir David Attenborough read an extract from the final diary entry of Captain Scott’s diary.

2013 

Awarded an Honorary fellowship by Cardiff University. 

2014 

Became the fastest ever Brit to ski solo, unsupported and unassisted to the South Pole. He also became the first ever Welsh person to complete a solo, unsupported and unassisted journey from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole.

Awarded the Blyth Spirit Award at the 2014 Rugby Players’ Association awards.  

2015 

Richard's first book Beyond the Horizon was named "Rugby Book of the Year" at the Cross British Sports Book Awards.

2016

Richard's is officially recognised as a Guinness World Records title holder in new category of 'Fastest completion of the Explorer's Grand Slam (Last Degree) by a male'. This record awarded for his 737 Challenge in 2011. See story here.
